Charles Thomas Payne, age 73, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday February 2, 2022, in Fayetteville. He was born January 21, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Purnell Floyd and Nelma Lade Payne. He is a member of Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville. He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy. He was a loving husband and was the protector of his entire family. He is a member of the VFW. He retired from the US Postal Service. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and amateur radio, his call sign was N5WOO.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Saundra Roberts Payne; daughter, Connie Payne of Fayetteville; son, John Payne of Springdale; brother, Floyd C. Payne of Springdale; six grandchildren: Mackenzie, Lauren, Mattie, Matthew, Connor, and Brody.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday February 8, 2022, at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Moore's Chapel, with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
